POWERTRAINS
Three engine options are available, one turbocharged petrol unit and two making do with hybrid assistance.
RX 350 & 350 F Sport
The 350-badged RX models are equipped with a 2.4-litre four-cylinder turbopetrol engine producing 205 kW (from 6 000 r/min) and 430 Nm of torque (available from 1 700 r/min), sent to an all-wheel-drive system via an eight-speed automatic transmission. Lexus claims an average fuel consumption figure of 8.7 L/100 km. The top speed is rated at 200 km/h.
RX 350h
The first hybrid derivative in the line-up is the 350h. This model’s petrol-electric powertrain comprises a 140 kW/239 Nm 2.5-litre naturally aspirated four-pot and electric motor, bringing the total power output to 184 kW. The hybrid arrangement is coupled with a CVT. This model also features an all-wheel drive. The claimed fuel consumption figure is 5.4 L/100 km. The top speed is 200 km/h.
RX 500h
The 500h (available in only F Sport guise) spearheads the local RX line-up. This model’s hybrid configuration — a 202 kW/460 Nm 2.4-litre turbocharged four-pot and electric motor — produces a total power output of 273 Nm, sent to all four wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission. Lexus claims a fuel consumption figure of 6.5 L/100 km. The top speed is 210 km/h.
SPECIFICATIONS
As standard, all models ship with LED adaptive high-beam headlamps (replete with LED daytime-running lights) and LED front fog lamps. Headlamp cleaners are also present. The rear lamps also make use of LED tech. The powered tailgate features hands-free functionality. Of course, F Sport models gain several sportier trim bits.
The interior features a head-up display, digital instruments and touchscreen infotainment. Sat-nav is also included, as are wireless smartphone charging and a 21-speaker Mark Levinson sound system. The electrically adjustable front pews and rear items feature heating functionality. A panoramic sunroof is standard. Adaptive cruise control, park distance control, a panoramic view camera system, blind-spot monitoring and tyre pressure monitoring are among the host of additional standard features.
