The box-fresh Suzuki Eeco has launched in South Africa, with the local arm of the Japanese automaker releasing pricing and spec for its compact panel van. See pricing below…

“The Eeco has been highly anticipated by our customers in the know. Like the Super Carry, it offers fuel-efficient point-to-point transport of goods at the lowest possible price. Unlike its pick-up sibling, however, the Eeco has all the benefits of a panel van and all the safety of its entry-level passenger vehicle sibs,” said Brendon Carpenter, Brand Marketing Manager of Suzuki Auto South Africa.

The Eeco measures 3 675 mm nose to tail, 1 475 mm in width, and has a wheelbase of 2 350 mm. The load bay measures 1 620 mm in length, 1 300 mm in width and 1 070 mm in height. The ground clearance is 160 mm. Carrying two passengers and when fully fueled, the Eeco has a load-carrying capacity of 615 kg.

A steel grid partition is fitted between the load bay and the front compartment. The large roof-to-bumper rear door and two side sliding doors can be operated independently.

The front suspension arrangement is of the McPherson strut variety, while a three-link rigid axle can be found at the rear. The Eeco sits on 13-inch wheels.

Regarding specification, the Eeco features a digital instrument cluster, air conditioning and a 12 V power socket. Rear parking sensors are included. Two speakers and an antenna are also included in preparation for a radio. Safety items include two airbags, ABS, EBD and ESP.

The Eeco is powered by a 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine producing 59 kW and 104 Nm of torque, available from 6 000 r/min and 3 000 r/min, respectively. Suzuki claims an average fuel consumption figure of 5.4 L/100 km. A five-speed manual gearbox sends power to the rear wheels.

The Suzuki Eeco is priced at R199 900. Pricing includes a three-year/100 000 km warranty.
