Toyota has announced it has handed the Rumion a host of exterior, convenience and safety upgrades. Here’s what you can expect, including pricing and spec, of the facelifted seven-seater. (It’s worth noting these enhancements are immediately available with the entry-level S and mid-tier SX models, while the updated TX — the range-topping variant — is scheduled to be introduced in August 2023.)
From an exterior point of view, the refreshed Rumion features a now-larger mesh grille, finished in black. Stepping inside, the S model now features items such as a height-adjustable front seatbelt, while the rearmost pews can be reclined. Safety items fitted to the S include VSC, seatbelt warning and rear park distance sensors.
The SX derivatives gain an armrest for the front passengers, display audio, a reverse-view camera and cruise control. The automatic SX further features hill-assist control.
Seven exterior colours are available. These include Mystic Pearl White, Premier Liquid Silver, Azure Blue, Seal Grey Metallic, Autumn Blaze Red, Cedar Brown, and Shadow Black Pearl.
As a reminder, all Rumion models employ a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine, producing 77 kW and 138 Nm of torque. The K15B motor – which is also employed by the Starlet and Urban Cruiser – is available with a five-speed manual gearbox (exclusive to the S) and a four-speed automatic transmission. Both transmission options are available with the SX (and the upcoming updated TX). Toyota claims the five-speed cog swapper and four-speed self-shifter sips 6.2 L/100 km.
