Suzuki has introduced a new trim grade to its local Jimny line-up. Bookmarked by the entry-level GA variants and range-topping GLX models, GL level of specification, the Japanese firm says, was designed to bring many of the must-have luxuries of the GLX to a broader audience.

Priced from R336 900 for the five-speed manual derivative to R357 900 for the four-speed automatic version, the Jimny GL features electric windows and side mirrors, alloy wheels, audio controls on the steering wheel, and remote central locking. GL derivatives also ship with a four-year/60 000 km service plan.

“No one, our team included, could have predicted the success of the Jimny in Sa”

“No one, our team included, could have predicted the success of the Jimny in South Africa and across the globe,” said Brendon Carpenter, Brand Marketing Manager at Suzuki Auto South Africa. “As a fully off-road capable SUV, it is as comfortable in the inner city as it is on the dunes of the Namib. And at a starting price of only R336 900 for the GL manual and R357 900 for the GL auto, the dreams of adventure will become a reality for thousands of people,”

As a reminder, the Jimny is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine, producing 75 kW and 130 Nm of torque. The K15B motor sips a claimed 6.3 L/100 km when coupled with a manual gearbox and 6.8 L/100 km when equipped with a self-shifter.
