The local line-up comprises a quartet of petrol-powered models — the 318i, 320i, 330i and M340i — and one diesel derivative, the 320d. Each model, bar the range-topping M340i, is available with BMW’s M Sport package.

Starting with the petrol variants, the 318i is equipped with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine producing 115 kW and 250 Nm. BMW claims this model sips an average of 6.3 L/100 km. The 320i and 330i also make do with 2.0-litre turbopetrol units, endowed with 135 kW/300 Nm and 190 kW/400 Nm, respectively. The 320i has a claimed fuel consumption figure similar to the 318i. The 330i sips 0.1 L/100 km more at 6.4 L/100 km. These three models direct power to their rear axles via eight-speed automatic transmissions.

The M340i xDrive’s 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six produces 285 kW and 500 Nm for a claimed 0-100 km/h sprint time of 4.4 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h. This model has a claimed average fuel consumption figure of 7.7 L/100 km.

The sole diesel model in the line-up, the 320d’s four-cylinder oil-burner produces 140 kW and 400 Nm, available from a lowly 1 750 r/min. This derivative’s diesel unit has a claimed fuel consumption figure of 4.6 L/100 km.
