CH-R

For 2022, the CH-R (in Plus and Luxury trim grades) has gained 18-inch ‘directional’ alloy wheels wrapped in 225/50 rubber. A space-saver spare wheel “enhances” luggage capacity, says TSAM. In addition, the exterior colour palette has been revised. “Striking” new exterior hues have been introduced. Standard and Plus models are available with 10 paint finishes, which include new Midnight Purple, Fierce Red and Eclipse Black. Luxury models are available in only “charismatic” two-tone paint schemes. Nine dual-tone configurations are available, each (bar Eclipse black, which features a silver contrast roof) featuring a black contrast roof.

As standard, all models ship with LED headlamps incorporating daytime-running lights (Plus variants further gain front fog lamps). Apple CarPlay/Android Auto-enabled eight-inch touchscreen infotainment is also included, as are six speakers and air conditioning. Plus variants upgrade to rain-sensing wipers, dual-zone climate control, cruise control and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Range-topping Luxury trim further features park distance control, an ‘Intelligent’ parking system, keyless entry and start, a partial leather interior, and Bi-LED headlamps. LED fog lamps are also present on Luxury spec.

Regarding safety, all models feature ABS, EBD, brake assist, vehicle stability control, hill assist control, and trailer sway control. The standard Plus derivatives feature a duo of front airbags and side, curtain and driver-know airbags. Isofix is also present. Luxury models upgrade to Toyota’s Safety Sense package (TSS). The TSS pack features auto high beam, a pre-collision system, rear cross-traffic alert and blind-spot monitoring, and lane-departure alert with lane trace functionality. Adaptive cruise control is also included with Luxury trim.

A 1.2-litre petrol engine is still employed across the range. The turbocharged unit produces 85 kW and 185 Nm of torque. Coupled with the six-speed manual gearbox, the motor sips a claimed 6.3 L/100 km. The CVT-equipped model consumes 6.4 L/100 km.

TSAM’s six services/90 000 km service plan is included as standard. A three-year/100 000 km warranty is also included.
