Silverstone Auctions has announced that Rowan Atkinson’s Lancia HF Integrale Evo II is for sale, with the firm saying this “superb”, low-mileage, 1993 example is estimated to fetch between £65 000 and £75 000 when going under the hammer. At today’s Rand-Pound exchange rate, these figures amount to R1 374 790.50 and R1 586 280, respectively.
The British actor, comedian and petrolhead — known for his roles in Black Adder, Mr Bean and Johnny English, among many others — purchased this Lancia hot hatch in May 2021. It had covered a total of 87 000 km from new before Atkinson added some kilometres to the clock (the reading now sits at just below 90 000 km). Silverstone Auctions says Atkinson has enjoyed many happy hours in the car.
Now, a bit of history — The Lancia Delta Integrale was introduced in 1979 at the Frankfurt Motor Show and is best known for dominating the World Rally Championship in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The Evo variants were built at the end of 1991 and served as the final homologation cars for the Lancia Rally Team, who competed under the Martini Racing banner (note the branding in this Evo II example).
In June 1993, the HF model was developed. Known as the Evo II, this derivative sported an updated 2.0-litre turbocharged engine producing 160 kW. According to the auction company, these models are now considered the must-have versions.
