BMW South Africa has announced local pricing for the new-generation 7 Series and its fully electric sibling, the first-ever i7. See pricing below…

Locally, the new 7 Series is available with the option of two internal combustion engines and an all-electric powertrain. All models are available with three trim levels, Design Pure Excellence, M Sport Package and M Sport Package Pro.

Starting with the internal combustion variants, these include the 740i and 740d xDrive. The former, rear-wheel-drive, petrol-powered derivative is priced from R2 160 000. The 740i is equipped with a 3.0-litre turbocharged six-cylinder engine incorporating 48 V mild-hybrid tech. The petrol unit produces 280 kW and 540 Nm of torque.

The 740d xDrive’s 3.0-litre six-cylinder mill churns out 210 kW and 650 Nm, which directs power and torque to all four corners via BMW’s eight-speed automatic transmission. Pricing for the diesel-powered 7 Series kicks off at R2 280 000.

Spearheading the local 7 Series line-up is the German marque’s first-ever electrified luxury saloon, the i7. Available in xDrive60 flavour, this model’s twin electric-motor arrangement produces 400 kW and 745 Nm. BMW claims an all-electric range of “up to” 625 km.
