Volkswagen South Africa has announced pricing for the facelifted Tiguan. Now in its third-generation, the updated Tiguan joins Volkswagen South Africa’s T SUV line-up boasting a sharper exterior design language, new tech and a host of new interior features.
Locally, the four-model line-up will be priced from R521 000 for the entry-level 1,4 TSI variant to R710 000 for the top-of-the-range, 2,0 TSI derivative, featuring the R-Line package. Models equipped with the 1,4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine will be available with the option of either an automatic or Volkswagens’ dual-clutch transmission, and direct 110 kW exclusively to the front wheels. Equipped with a DSG gearbox, the 1,4-litre variants can be specified in either Life or R-Line trim. The range-topping model’s 2,0-litre TSI is linked to a DSG transmission, which directs 162 kW to the road via Volkswagen’s 4Motion all-wheel-drive system.
According to Volkswagen South Africa, the Tiguan was the best-selling midsize SUV in South Africa in the year 2020. A total of 4 280 units of the pre-facelifted Tiguan was sold in 2020, accounting for a 16,2 percent stake of market share in the midsize-SUV segment.
As standard, the updated Volkswagen Tiguan ships with Volkswagen’s five-year/90 000 km service plan and three-year/120 000 km warranty, plus a 12-year anti-corrosion warranty. The facelifted Tiguan, Volkswagen South Africa says, will be available to purchase come 1 July 2021. See full pricing below…
