The Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale is arguably one of the most beautiful cars to ever grace the road. Now, the Italian marque has revived the namesake, introducing a new iteration of its stunning two-seater. Only 33 examples will be made, all of which are already sold out.

Inspired by the iconic classic of 1967, the new 33 Stradale’s exterior design is the “epitome” of Alfa Romeo’s “necessary beauty” creative principle. According to the Turin-based brand, “The exterior features a perfect balance between proportions, volumes and processing of the surfaces.”

“With the new 33 Stradale, we wanted to create something that lived up to our past … and make the Alfisti fandom proud”

“The 33 Stradale project has come about as a result of the passion and dedication of a small team of designers and engineers at the Alfa Romeo Centro Stile. The design is inspired by Franco Scaglione’s masterpiece of 1967, with a bold look to the lines of future Alfa Romeo models,” said Alejandro Mesonero-Romanos, Head of Alfa Romeo Design.

The interior is driver-focused, with the only display — the ‘telescope’ instrument panel, sited fore the driver— present. The dashboard, centre console and roof panel take inspiration from aviation, with the latter featuring several “mechanical” switches.

The new 33 Stradale is available with two powertrains, a 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged V6 and an all-electric configuration. Coupled with an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox, the petrol-powered unit sends “over” 462 kW exclusively to the rear axle. Alfa Romeo claims the internal combustion-propelled model completes the obligatory 0-100 km/h sprint in “under” 3.0 seconds, before topping out at 333 km/h. The emissions-free derivative’s electric arrangement produces “over” 559 kW. The company claims this variant can travel up to 450 km when its battery is fully charged.

“This is the brand’s first custom-built car since 1969, and it won’t be the last.”

Stopping power is provided by an integrated brake-by-wire set-up. Produced by Brembo for Alfa Romeo, the system comprises front six-piston aluminium monobloc callipers and rear four-piston items. The fore discs are ventilated.

“With the new 33 Stradale, we wanted to create something that lived up to our past, to serve the brand and to make the Alfisti fandom proud,” said Jean-Philippe Imparato, CEO of the Alfa Romeo.

“Such a result could only have been achieved thanks to the expertise, hard work and passion of our team, with the support of management who have the clear ambition to contribute to writing chapters in the brand’s future, in full respect of its unique history. This is the brand’s first custom-built car since 1969, and I promise it won’t be the last.”
