Suzuki’s Grand Vitara is setting its sights on a new mission: enhancing road safety awareness.
Championing Safe Driving with DriveSMART
In a bid to promote safe driving, Suzuki Auto South Africa has teamed up with FleetMax Africa for the DriveSMART with Suzuki campaign. This initiative will tackle road safety head-on, with content featured prominently on social media platforms.
Ashref Ismail, CEO of FleetMax Africa, emphasizes the urgency of the cause: “Each year, over 14,000 lives are lost on South Africa’s roads, with many more suffering severe injuries. Young people are disproportionately affected. We are committed to making a change.”
The economic toll of these accidents is staggering, exceeding R150 billion annually. FleetMax Africa, a leader in transport consultancy and road safety training, brings over 20 years of expertise under Ismail’s leadership to this vital campaign.
Suzuki’s Continued Dedication to Road Safety
Suzuki is well-acquainted with road safety efforts. In addition to the DriveSMART campaign, they are supporting Wheel Well’s Halo Beanie project. This initiative aims to reduce child pedestrian injuries and fatalities by providing reflective beanies, especially in rural areas.
As part of their collaboration with FleetMax, Suzuki will provide two Grand Vitara GLX models for use in nationwide training programs and the production of road safety videos. These videos, ranging from two to three minutes, will cover over 120 topics, including defensive driving and vehicle maintenance.
“These videos will serve as a valuable resource, easily shareable across our social media channels and with our partners. By working together, we can turn car ownership into a symbol of safety and freedom for young drivers,” says Brendon Carpenter, Brand Marketing Manager of Suzuki Auto South Africa.
