This week’s motoring news was dominated by the introduction of the next-generation Ford Ranger Raptor, with the Blue Oval brand finally revealing the new range-topping Ranger following a brief teaser campaign. Another manufacturer also made the headlines – Volkswagen, with the German marque releasing ‘near-production’ sketches of the upcoming Amarok.
In addition, a host of new vehicles have (finally) arrived in South Africa, the Chery Tiggo8 Pro, the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class and Audi’s fully-fledged e-tron line-up. Here’s the breakdown of this week’s motoring news…
Ford has finally whipped the covers off the next-generation Ranger Raptor. Billed as a true performance machine, the second Ranger to don the ‘Raptor’ badge is endowed with a 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine, producing a whopping 292 kW and 583 Nm of torque. The EcoBoost motor is coupled to Ford’s 10-speed automatic transmission, which directs power and torque to a permanent four-wheel-drive system.
Volkswagen has released new sketches of the upcoming Amarok. According to the Wolfsburg-based brand, these ‘near-production’ images give a glimpse of the upcoming bakkie’s “dynamic, self-assured” exterior design. In addition, the firm has confirmed that the box-fresh bakkie will again boast a V6 diesel motor.
