Thule has launched the Caprock, a brand-new roof rack, created for everyday work and, of course, leisure adventures.

Thanks to its modular design, the Caprock provides a sleek, supportive platform for a variety of gear. The Caprock was designed to accommodate “common” roof-rack accessories from a wide variety of suppliers. The frame is covered in T-slots, as are the crossbars, the latter of which can be fitted with a range of accessories, including rooftop tents, roof boxes, bicycle carriers, kayak holders, light bars, jacks and other necessary adventure gear.

“It is ideal for those individuals who dabble in a wide variety of leisure and outdoor activities”

The front end features a discreet fairing, positioned between the vehicle’s roof and the bottom of the platform. In addition, diffuser strips are built into each crossbar to reduce wind noise and the rack’s influence on fuel consumption.

Thanks to its design, weight is distributed across the platform, thus increasing its carrying capability. Thanks to this, the Caprock can be fitted to a wider range of vehicles.

The Caprock is available in five sizes. Measuring 1.3 x 1.5 metres, the smallest version is suitable for compact SUVs, like the Volkswagen T-Cross, while the larger versions are suitable for vehicles like the Land Rover Defender, Ineos Grenadier and Mercedes-Benz Viano.

In addition, fitment doesn’t require modification to the vehicle. Already own a Thule Crossbar? No worries, the Caprock can be fitted to this unit via an adapter.

“The Thule Caprock is ideal for those individuals who dabble in a wide variety of leisure and outdoor activities and are looking for a platform that can be adapted to what they are carrying this weekend and easily altered for carrying something completely different next weekend,” said the Swedish manufacturer.

The Thule Caprock is priced from R25 999. A five-year warranty is included in the purchase.
