5. Toyota Corolla Cross – 1 839
In March 2023, the Corolla Cross moved down one spot. Still, it recorded an increase in sales figures. In the third month of this year, 1 839 people put pen to paper for Toyota’s popular crossover. Compared to February 2023, that’s 156 more. And, like the second month of this year, it was again the second best-selling vehicle from Toyota South Africa Motors (TSAM).
4. Volkswagen Polo Vivo – 2 016
Having made the list of SA’s top 5 best-selling cars in February 2023, the Polo Vivo, of which the updated GT model was recently revealed (pricing and spec here), moved up one spot. Compared to the shortest month of the year, in the third month of 2023, Polo Vivo sales were up by 503 units. With a total sales figure of 2 016 in March 2023, the Polo Vivo surpassed the Corolla Cross (February 2023’s best-selling passenger car) to become the top-selling car in the passenger segment in March 2023.
3. Ford Ranger – 2 247
Placing second in February 2023, the Ford Ranger made this list for the first time in the new year. However, in March 2023, the Blue Oval brand’s popular bakkie was relegated to third, just missing out on second place, with a sales figure of 2 247 units. Still, it sold a commendable 441 units more compared to February 2023.
2. Isuzu D-Max – 2 289
In March 2023, the D-Max moved up one spot, placing second with 42 more units sold than the Blue Oval bakkie while upping its sales figure by 542 units sold.
1. Toyota Hilux – 3 920
No surprise here. The Hilux continues to be SA’s best-selling vehicle. In March 2023, TSAM — the best-selling car brand in SA in March 2023 — sold 585 more Hilux units than in February 2023.
