Here’s the list of South Africa’s top five best-selling vehicles in April 2023…
5. Isuzu D-Max — 1 555
In May 2023, the Isuzu D-Max, which didn’t make its way onto the list of SA’s best-selling vehicles in April 2023, made its return, with the Japanese brand’s bakkie placing fifth with a total number of 1 555 units sold.
4. Toyota Corolla Cross — 1 644
The Corolla Cross, of which we tested the hybrid derivative in 2022, remained in fourth place in the fifth month of the year. In May 2023, 1 644 people, 363 more than April 2023, put pen to paper for Toyota’s popular crossover.
3. VW Polo Vivo — 1 876
The Polo Vivo again claimed third spot, with Volkswagen South Africa selling 1 876 units of its entry-level hatchback in May 2023. Compared to the April, that’s an increase of 366 units.
2. Ford Ranger — 2 104
SA’s best-selling vehicle in April 2023, the Ford Ranger, was relegated to second spot in May 2023, with the local arm of the Blue Oval brand selling 2 104, 97 units less than in April 2023, Rangers in the fifth month of this year. As a reminder, the Ranger recently claimed top honours in the Double Cab category and crowned overall winner at the 2023 South African Car of the Year (SA COTY) awards (see all the winners here).
1. Toyota Hilux — 2 798
In May 2023, the Hilux reclaimed the title as SA’s best-selling vehicle, with Toyota South Africa Motors (TSAM) top-selling bakkie registering a sales increase of a whopping 611 units in May 2023. The total sales figure amounted to to 2 798 units (compared to the 2 187 units sold in April 2023).
