Powertrain
As a reminder, the GR86 is equipped with a 2.4-litre horizontally-opposed four-cylinder engine. The petrol unit produces 174 kW and 250 Nm, available from 7 000 r/min and 3 700 r/min, respectively. Power and torque are exclusively directed to the rear axle via the option of a six-speed manual gearbox or automatic transmission with the same number of cogs.
Toyota says the manual-equipped model sprints to the three-figure marker from a standstill in 6.4 seconds, while the self-shifting variant completes the obligatory 0-100 km/h sprint four-tenths of a second slower at 6.8 seconds. The top speed for the manual derivative is rated at 226 km/h. The automatic model has a top speed of 216 km/h. Average fuel consumption comes in at 9.5 L/100 km (manual) and 8.8 L/100 km (automatic).
Specification
Regarding standard specification, the rear-wheel-drive sports coupé ships with touchscreen infotainment incorporating screen-mirroring functionality and automatic dual-zone climate control. A six-speaker sound system is present. A reverse-view camera system is included. The (heated) front seats offer manual adjustability. The manual variant features cruise control, while the automatic features adaptive cruise control.
Outside, adaptive LED headlamps with daytime-running of the same lighting technology are present. The automatic variant further features auto high-beam functionality. The rear lights are also of the LED variety. Both models ride on 18-inch alloy wheels finished in black. Seven colour options are available. Silver and white hues are no-cost options. The remaining (optional) colours are Phoenix Red, Storm Blue, Magnetite Grey, Bright Blue, and Night Shadow.
