The Toyota Rumion has debuted on South African shores, with the local arm of the Japanese car manufacturer revealing pricing (and specification) for the seven-seater people mover. See pricing below…
Priced from R245 600, the local Rumion line-up comprises five derivatives, each powered by a 1.5-litre normally aspirated petrol motor producing 77 kW and 138 N.m of torque. Two transmission options – a five-speed manual and four-speed automatic – are on offer. The trio of trim levels include, as mentioned, base S level of specification, mid-tier SX and range-topping TX.
The opening gambit to the Rumion range, the S-badged model is available with only a manual transmission. As standard, the entry-level model features halogen headlamps, LED taillamp, intermittent wipers, and 15-inch steel wheels. The cabin is upholstered in cloth and features manual air conditioning, a multi-information display, and ventilated cupholders.
On the outside, SX models upgrade to a chrome grille, while the cabin features a double DIN audio system, complete with Bluetooth functionality and a quartet of speakers. Range-topping TX level of specification gains items such as smart entry, front fog lamps, and 15-inch alloy wheels. Inside, TX variants are equipped with a touchscreen infotainment, replete with screen mirroring and reverse-view camera, automatic air conditioning, and leather trim for the multifunction tiller.
As standard, all models feature Toyota South Africa Motors’ (TSAM) four services/60 000 km service plan. A three-year/100 000 km warranty is included in the asking price.
