Toyota has revealed the 2023-model-year Corolla Cross Hybrid for the U.S. market.

Corolla Cross Hybrid

Equipped with the Japanese car manufacturer’s fifth-generation hybrid system, the Corolla Cross Hybrid offers “increased” power and fuel economy. The petrol-electric arrangement comprises a 1.8-litre four-cylinder petrol engine and electric motors.

The hybrid set-up produces a total power output of 145 kW, which is exclusively sent to all four corners via an “exclusive” all-wheel-drive system. Toyota says the 2023 Corolla Cross Hybrid has a combined fuel consumption figure of 16 km/litre (or 6.25 L/100 km).

In the U.S., the 2023 model is available with alloy wheels measuring 17 inches and 18 inches in size. All models feature LED headlamps and taillamps.

The U.S.-built model will be available with Toyota’s latest multimedia system, designed and engineered by the company’s Texas-based Connected Technologies team. The set-up features a touchscreen infotainment system, complete with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and added USB-C charging ports.

In terms of safety, Toyota’s Safety Sense 3.0 set-up is standard. The system includes dynamic radar cruise control and lane departure alert with steering assist. Blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and hill start assist control are also part of the package.

As a reminder, the currently-available-in-South Africa, locally-built model was recently raked in several awards at this year’s South African Car of the Year (SA COTY) awards. The Corolla Cross claimed top honours in the Compact Family category and the hybrid version in the New Energy category. It was also named the South African Car of the Year for 2022.
