In August this year, BMW South Africa announced pricing for the new X1 sDrive 18i, the then sole model in the model line-up. Now, the local arm of the German marque has added the sDrive 18d to the range. Full pricing below…
Priced from R813 116.60, the sDrive 18d, like its petrol-powered sibling, seemingly ships with the Bavarian brand’s xLine package. However, on BMW SA’s configurator, when ditching the 19-inch alloys and optioning the 18-inch wheels, the price comes in at R798 116.60. The diesel-powered X1 can also be had with the company’s M Sport package. This model is priced from R838 116.60.
The sDrive 18d is equipped with a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 110 kW and 360 Nm of torque, available from 3 750 r/min and a lowly 1 500 r/min, respectively. Coupled with a seven-speed automated dual-clutch transmission, BMW claims the diesel motor sips 5.0 L/100 on average. The 0-100 km/h sprint time and the top speed are rated at 8.9 seconds and 210 km/h.
As a reminder, the sDrive 18i’s 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbopetrol engine produces 115 kW and 230 Nm. BMW claims the petrol unit has an average fuel consumption figure of 6.5 L/100 km. This model sprints to 100 km/h from a standstill in a claimed 9.0 seconds before reaching a top speed of 215 km/h.
