BMW South Africa has confirmed the local arrival date of the facelifted 3 Series. The firm has announced that refreshed 3 will be available from the third quarter of 2022.

The most notable mid-cycle updates made to the new 3 Series include redesigned LED headlamps and an updated version of the German marque’s signature kidney grille. The (standard) full-LED front lamps house inverted L-shaped daytime-running lights (DRLs).

The rear sports a revised diffuser. Additional cosmetic upgrades include flared wheel arches and larger tailpipe housings. The latter units now measure 90 mm or 100 mm in diameter, depending on the model.

The Bavarian brand’s M Sport package now features a brand-new design. It includes a honeycomb grille, redesigned fore and aft aprons and new wheels. The 18-inch M light-alloy items are wrapped in mixed-size rubber. In addition to this package, BMW has also introduced the M Sport package Pro with the updated 3 Series.

The M Sport package Pro features the firm’s M High-gloss Shadowline trim, and M lights Shadowline. This pack also comes with an M Sport braking system, complete with red brake callipers.

The most notable upgrades have been made to the interior. The 3 Series now boasts BMW’s ‘Curved Display’ set-up. The dual-screen arrangement – similar to that found inside the i4 Gran Coupé, iX, new X7 and 7 Series – comprises a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display and a 14.9-inch touch-enabled infotainment screen.

The system incorporates the German marque’s new-generation software. Screen-mirroring functionality and satellite navigation are included, as is three-zone climate control.
