Underscoring the sporty character of the German marque’s two-seater drop-top, BMW has handed the Z4 a raft of detailed updates. BMW SA has also announced the local introduction date of the updated model. The refreshed Z4 is scheduled to land on SA shores in the second quarter of 2023.
For the fresh-faced model, BMW has handed the Z4 a redesigned front grille. The kidneys are flanked by refreshed LED headlamps with vertically arranged light sources positioned at the outer edges. According to BMW, “The latest design modifications shine an even brighter spotlight on the roadster’s width and powerful stance.” The 2023-model-year Z4 comes with the firm’s M Sport package as standard.
In addition, the list of standard items further includes 18-inch M light-alloy wheels in a double-spoke design. These bi-colour wheels are fitted with mixed-size tyres: 225/45 R18 at the front axle and 255/40 R18 at the rear. Options now available to customers include M light-alloy wheels in 19-inch format designed exclusively for the BMW Z4. The M lights Shadow Line pack is available and can be ordered with the (optional) adaptive LED headlamps.
Inside, the M40i model features a combination of leather and Alcantara upholstery for the seats with blue contrast stitching and piping. Ambient lighting is also present in this derivative. BMW SA has, however, announced that the final specification for the local market is still to be finalised.
As a reminder, the Z4 M40i is equipped with a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six engine producing 285 kW and 500 Nm of torque. BMW claims a 0-100 km/h sprint time of 4.5 seconds.
