The updated Jaguar F-Pace SVR has finally made its South African debut, with the Coventry manufacturer’s sports SUV joining the recently facelifted F-Pace line-up.
The pinnacle of the F-Pace range, the SVR boasts Jaguar Land Rover’s familiar 5,0-litre supercharged V8 petrol engine. However, for the updated F-Pace SVR, Jaguar has tweaked the torque curve, raising peak torque output by 20 N.m. The F-Pace SVR now produces 405 kW and 700 N.m.
According to the British brand, the increase in torque allows for a zero to 100 km/h acceleration time of 4,0 seconds (three-tenths of a second quicker to the 100 km/h marker than before) and a maximum speed of 286 km/h.
“To withstand the higher loads produced,” the V8 powertrain now directs power and torque to all four wheels through the same eight-speed torque converter transmission used in the Jaguar XE SV Project 8 sedan. In addition, a new “Dynamic Launch” feature uses driveline inertia to maintain power to the wheels during gear changes, allowing for “sharper” acceleration from standstill.
Reigning in speed, the facelifted model benefits from a recalibrated braking system. Stopping power is provided by 395 mm fore and 396 mm aft two-piece disc brakes, which are now supported by a new integrated power booster.
According to Jaguar, stopping power is further enhanced thanks to the improved cooling and aerodynamics (the facelifted model boasts a drag coefficient of 0,36 compared to the pre-facelifted model’s 0,37 Cd). As standard, the F-Pace SVR ships with Jaguar’s adaptive dynamics suspension setup.
The facelifted F-Pace SVR is priced from R1 835 700 and is sold with Jaguar South Africa’s five-year/100 000 km maintenance plan and warranty as standard.
