The updated Nissan Navara has made its local debut. Produced in South Africa, the Navara range now consists of no less than 17 variants “to suit everyone’s needs, whether you are buying to empower your business or taking your family on an off-road adventure”.
Said Stefan Haasbroek, marketing director at Nissan South Africa, “it’s an amazing achievement to see the full set of exciting models for the next-generation Navara. The updated range, Haasbroek added, offers customers a choice of both single and double-cab versions, two-wheel- and and four-wheel-drive options, and a choice of automatic and manual transmissions.
The updated, 17-strong Navara range is priced from R311 000 for the entry-level, 2,5DE Petrol XE 4X2 MT single-cab version to R740 000 for the top-line, 2,5D Pro-4X 4X4 AT double cab. The former derivative’s turbocharged petrol engine produces 118 kW at 6 000 r/min and 233 N.m at 4 000 r/min. The range-topping variant’s turbodiesel, meanwhile is good for 140 kW at 3 600 r/min and 450 N.m at 2 000 r/min. Mid-tier models – in both single-cab and double-cab, 4X2 and 4X4, and manual and automatic guises – feature a down tuned version of the high-spec versions of the aforementioned DDTi diesel engine, which produce 120 kW and 403 N.m from similar revs.
According to Nissan South Africa, drivers of the updated Navara “will experience significantly enhanced balance, superb handling and heightened performance … thanks to the successful combination of a new chassis, increased rear height, better shock absorber damping and a new dual-rate five-link coil suspension”.
Among the host of interior features, the updated cabin is equipped with an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system, offering NissanConnect, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Additional safety technologies have been added, too. The updated Nissan Navara features Nissan’s Intelligent Mobility (NIM) safety suite.
