Toyota has revealed the updated Corolla, with the fresh-faced model sporting more refined and contemporary exterior design cues, the Japanese automaker’s latest multimedia features, and new-generation hybrid powertrain technology.

The most notable exterior revisions include a new mesh pattern for the front grille, revised bezels for the fog lights and new alloy wheel designs. The cabin follows the firm’s new ‘Dark and Light Harmony’ theme. The interior upholstery has also gained new patterns that Toyota says add three-dimensional depth and tactile appeal.

The 2023 model is equipped with Toyota’s latest digital and multimedia features. Designed for an enhanced user experience, the Corolla has a 10.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 12.3-inch digital instrument display.

In terms of safety, the revised Corolla comes equipped with Toyota T-Mate. This set-up combines the company’s latest Safety Sense package with additional active driving and parking assistance systems.

The updated Corolla benefits from Toyota’s fifth-generation hybrid technology. It is available with 1.8-litre and 2.0-litre petrol-electric powertrains. The former unit produces 104 kW, while the latter is endowed with 146 kW.

Toyota also says the refreshed version boasts improved drivability and acceleration feel. The company has recalibrated the hybrid control units to mirror the driver’s intention and throttle input. This has been achieved with a reduction in engine speed during acceleration. The firm says powertrain noise under acceleration has also been quietened.
