Celebrating the Touareg’s 20th anniversary, VW has revealed a special-edition Touareg.
Billed the “Edition 20”, the new variant distinguishes itself with “completely new” Meloe Blue paintwork and 20-inch Bogota alloy wheels, only available on this anniversary model. The exterior further features a cherry red tint for the LED taillamps, gloss black wheel arches and darkened side and rear windows. “Edition 20” badges can be found on the B-pillar.
The interior is upholstered in black Savona leather, complete with distinctive diamond-pattern contrast stitching in Ceramique (light beige). The door sill panel illuminates “Edition 20”. Volkswagen says the additional red accents highlight the VW SUV’s sporty character. These can be found on the multifunction steering wheel, front facia, and door panels. The leather-wrapped gear selector features the “Edition 20” logo.
The VW Touareg “Edition 20” is available with a trio of engine options. These include the German marque’s 3.0-litre V6 TDI oil-burner, 3.0-litre V6 TSI and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) V6 TSI. The turbocharged diesel unit can be had in two different states of tune, 170 kW/500 Nm and 210 kW/600 Nm. The turbocharged petrol powertrain is endowed with 250 kW and 450 Nm of torque. The PHEV unit produces 280 kW and 600 Nm.
All four engines are coupled with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Power and torque are directed to the Wolfsburg-based automaker’s 4Motion all-wheel-drive system.
