Remember the Touareg “Edition 20” Volkswagen revealed to celebrate the SUV’s 20th anniversary? Well, the German automotive giant has now unwrapped another celebratory model… Meet the Golf R 20 Years, the most potent R-badged Golf ever!
So, how much power does this Golf R’s 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine produce? The answer is 245 kW. That’s an increase of 10 kW over the standard model. VW is yet to announce whether any changes have been made to the torque output.
This special-edition model is distinguished from the standard variant with the fitment R-Performance equipment, including a roof-mounted rear spoiler. Further included are additional driving modes and torque vectoring.
Marking two decades of its namesake, the Golf R 20 Years features “R” logos on the front grille, wheel arches and tailgate. “20” (to indicate this is an anniversary model) can be found on the B-pillar. “20 R” is displayed by the puddle lights, further reminding the owner that this is a unique Golf R.
The 20 Years derivative is equipped with 19-inch alloy wheels, finished in two-tone black and blue. The wheels are also available in black.
The interior features Nappa leather-upholstered sports seats, complete with blue “R” logos on the backrests. Carbon-fibre finishes can be found on the front facia.
