Motorsport has always been an inspiration to several watchmakers. We look at three motorsport-inspired watches worthy of any automotive and watch enthusiast’s timepiece collection.

Chopard Mille Miglia 2022 Race Edition

One of the most iconic motor racing events, the Mille Miglia, inspired this timepiece. Paying tribute to the love of fine mechanics, the Chopard Mille Miglia 2022 Race Edition is available in steel and 18-carat rose gold, limited to 1 000 and 250 examples, respectively. This motorsport-inspired watch’s satin-brushed silver-grey dial and the “Intense” blue hue found on the hands, hour markers, and bezel inlay add to this Chopard’s elegant design, as do the red accents.

Louis Moinet Time to Race

The Time to Race embodies the beauty of motorsport and the spirit between man and machine. This piece is unique because, although not limited to a certain amount, not one example will be alike. Customers can personalise their Time to Race model by selecting a one- or two-digit “lucky number” that will appear on the dial. Three hues are available — Rosso Corsa, Racing Green, and Bleu de France, each, like the timepiece, motorsport-inspired. The case is fashioned from titanium. The main plate is crafted from woven carbon fibre. The firm’s LM96 movement drives the watch, providing a power reserve of 48 hours.

Baltic x Peter Auto Tricompax

Inspired by the golden age of motor racing, with the Tricompax, Baltic, in partnership with Peter Auto, has combined tradition with modernity to create this exquisite piece. This timepiece features several motorsport-inspired design cues. These include bright hues on the sub-dials and a tachymeter scale measuring speeds up to 200 km/h. The 39.5 mm steel case — housing a Sellita movement with a power reserve of 63 hours — is coupled with a brushed steel bracelet. A taupe calf-skin leather strap is included. However, that’s not all that’s included — this limited-run (only 300 examples, never to be recreated, will be made) piece ships with a duo of stopwatches.
