Inspired by the golden age of motor racing, Baltic, in collaboration with Peter Auto, has released the Tricompax, a special-edition watch combining tradition and modernity.

“In the field of historic motor racing, Peter Auto is a reference. The events organised by Patrick Peter’s team in France and Europe are among the most exceptional. Bringing together the best drivers at the wheel of some of the most beautiful cars in the world, their events are the holy grail for any motor racing enthusiast,” said the Parisian luxury watchmaker.  “It is with great pleasure that we present our new special edition … our first three-counter chronograph.”

The Tricompax features several nods to motorsport. These include a tachymeter scale designed to measure speeds of up to 200 km/h and two hues recalling the intensity of the competition. The seconds hand, the minute counter and its hand are adorned with orange, while the hour register and its hand are yellow.

The case measures 39.5 mm in diameter and 13.5 mm thick. The steel item is coupled with a brushed steel bracelet inspired by the 1970s. A taupe calf leather strap is also included. Water resistance is rated at 50 metres.

Endowed with a Sellita SW510-M movement, the firm says, “This chronograph represents the beginning of an important chapter for us.” The Swiss hand-wound mechanical unit offers a power reserve of 63 hours.

Limited to only 300 pieces, Baltic says the Tricompax model “will never be reproduced”. The set includes the Tricompax watch and a duo of stopwatches. It is priced at €1 975, which, at the current Rand-Euro exchange rate, amounts to R34 721.05 (excl. VAT).
