Paying tribute to the racing spirit of the iconic blue Monaco. TAG Heuer has released a brand-new derivative of its square-shaped icon. Sporting a two-tone grey colour code, meet the Monaco Night Driver, a watch the Swiss luxury watchmaker says “is a legend in the making”.

What sets this piece — the Ref. CBL2181.FC6515 — apart from its standard stablemates, the Monaco Night Driver features a first for its namesake: a fully luminescent opaline-grey outer dial. Like the latter item, the chronograph counters also illuminate vibrant blue. This allows for excellent legibility.

The dial is housed in a black DLC-coated grade 5 titanium case, measuring 39 mm x 39 mm. The fixed bezel is also fashioned from this hard-wearing material, as is the case back, replete with sapphire glass through which the movement can be viewed.

The Monaco Night Driver is equipped with the La Chaux-de-Fonds-based brand’s renowned Heuer 02 calibre, an automatic chronograph unit, which, beating at 28 800 vph (4 Hz), offers a generous power reserve of 80 hours.

The Monaco Night Driver is presented on a black leather strap, replete with double-security folding clasp, crafted from grade 5 titanium. The watch is priced at R200 000. Only 600 examples will be made.
